Good job with your site. Nice to see pictures of a lot of the folks whose name I see every day on the digest. Glad
to hear the stories of Mike and Jules on this current tour.
I've cried enough on the digest about them not making it

Hello:
Great site and I can't agree with you more about your impression or Mike as a genuinely nice guy. First saw the Alarm at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas, TX when they were opening for the Pretenders in 1984. Played their albums on College Radio and for friends at home. Finally met Mike and his wife during the Raw tour in the early 90's at a Tower Records in San Mateo, CA. They all signed my Welsh (sp?)laguage copy of Change! It was a Japanese release and they hadn't seen it before (Twist, typically understated, said "Hey, this is cool...have ya seen this Mike?". Anyway, I'm sorry the boys are not together, but Mike's solo stuff is just great and I really like his new Rise album. Hopefully, he'll come to Texas again real soon. In the meantime, I'm awaiting that Alarm reunion tour which HAS to be coming soon with the 80's mania that's out there now. Keep up the good work!

Ecki,
Came back for a second time for a longer look. Got tears
in my eyes reading about your Cincinati trip. Next time
you're hanging out setting up tables and loading gear with
Mike and Jules, please let them know how bad someone in
Minneapolis wants to see them. Your review of only (25)
people at the gig doesn't seem to be the only limited attended show. Very sad, wish I could have been. Thank
goodness for the new live CD, I feel a little better about
missing the tour. Happy New Year!!

Hi!
Wery nice pages with lots of information. I especially like the personal touch in what you write. Go on with the work, you have really earned all your awards.
I have beeen an Alarm/MP-fan for about 10 years now, but living here in Norway I've actually never seen the band live, wich I, from what you're writing, realize is a shame.
I can only hope that Oslo sometime in the future may happen to get on the touring-list of CS or MP.
Tell Mike this next time you meet him!!!
Best wishes from Leif Endre

Your site is beautiful Ecki! Your words are exactly how I feel about Mike, his music and his fans. I went to this years Gathering and I am still up in the clouds. It was amazing. Everything was perfect (except maybe the windy weather). I met so many great people and I am so looking forward to next year. Hope you'll be there and I can meet you. Take care!

I have listend to mike since I was 16 it seemed that he was one of the only artists , other than U2 that was singing about things that mattered.
Also the passion was incredible. I saw the Alarm several times when they visited Dallas Texas and every show they were on fire.
Recently an old highscool chum and alarm lover said I must check out the acustic alblum of Alarm songs by Mike Peters. Now I usually don't like acustic versions of songs there is always somthing missing. Well I found my self my 30 year old ass singing at the top of my lungs (driving in my car), I didn't go home until the whole cd was complete. I can't describe the imense feelings I experienced it was like a dormant beast had awakend. I had not felt that way in 14 years. it gave me hope... thank you Mike

I feel really bad because I didn't discover the ALARM until 1996. But since then I have collected most of their albums.
I was lucky enough to go to Mike's solo concert at Alvin's in Detroit in Oct. 1998. Mike has to be the BEST performer I have ever seen. The best thing was that at the end of the show I got to shake the guys hand, It was like meeting a friend.

Ecki, What a wonderful discovery! I am new to the web, and made it a priority to search out some of my fave bands from years ago. The Alarm have resurfaced in my life and I am SO THRILLED to learn that Mike is still out there making music and touring! I would give anything to see him perform! The music of The Alarm kept me "marching on" through many trials and tribulations as a teenager, and after 10 or 15 years I can still holler out every word to every song on "Declaration" played at top volume. Thank you for being here for all of us Alarm fans!

Why mike? In this day of music retreads and diminishing rocking bands it is refreshing to listen to Mike Peters. His music is soulful, yet rocking; and is alot better than the stuff that the media machine tells us to listen to. Rock and Roll has fallen, but only because great music like Mike Peters and Midnight Oil (My Favorite) don't get the play they deserve. Perhaps U2 could revive the industry if they go back to their roots and put out a soulful, rocking album and leave the dance tracks to Jennifer Lopez.

ooops, no comments for such a long period of time?!?...
I heard a fantastic Peters-arcustic-version of "only the thunder" live in German radio last week - never heard Mike before; he's quite sympathic.
Hope, his recordings are as good as this version - I'll see.

If you are, like me, a fan of both Mike and The Alarm, as well as Welsh music in general then a new book, 'Cerys, Catatonia and The Rise Of Welsh Pop' could be right up your street!
It's a book that celebrates the last 30 years of Welsh music, lifting the lid on the highs and lows of the Welsh music scene.
The good news is that it includes a sizeable chunk dedicated to the music of both Mike and The Alarm. The author David Owens has obviously met and interviewed Mike many times and he has a massive affection for Mike's music.
Published on September 7th, the book also charts the inexorable rise of the Welsh pop icons that have transformed a nation's cultural landscape and dragged it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. As well as the obvious subject matter of the title, the book immerses itself in three decades of Welsh music. Amongst the many subjects the book investigates are the dynamic '80s Welsh language music scene, (including The Alarm's bilingual releases) the politics of the nation's musical rennaisance and the Newport scene of the mid '90s.
The first third of the book covers the rise of Welsh pop and includes a sizeable piece on The Alarm and their place in Welsh rock 'n' roll history.
It's the first book that I've read that really qualifies Mike's place in Welsh music folklore. It's quite a tribute to the man!
It is published by Ebury Press (an imprint of Random House) and is available for £9.99. For all you online buyers www.amazon.co.uk have the book for £7.99. (Although for some reason they are calling it Enter The Dragon - which I believe was the book's working title)
If you buy it, I hope you enjoy it!
Love
Claire

Mike Peters has to be one of the most influencial people that i have
ever come across, I have never spoken directly to him but have seen him
on many ocassions including the gig at Colwyn bay leisure center in the
80`s wow was that a great gig and was it hot or what? I am now 40 and
so happy that Mike is touring again, I will be at Nottingham Rock City
13th Dec and if my throat is not sore and my muscles aching the next day
i will be well dissapointed!!!!!!

I saw the Alarm open for Bob Dylan at Copps Colliseum. Most of them were there for Dylan but the Alarm fans were the most vocal. I got to shake Mike Peters hand when he came out in the crowd. The Best Rock show I ever saw and I've seen them all.The Alarm believed in what they were doing more than U2. I wish they were still together and performing. 68 guns

I didn't know who he was,so I asked him who he played with and his reply was The Alarm. He said they were off today and heading to Hilton Head, S.C. for a gig. He was so cool!!

Just wanted to say that everything you say about the Alarm from way back in 1983 to Mike now is exactly how I feel. even back in the early days when I was 13 The lyrics were remarkably heartfelt and in a world of crappy meaningless lyrics back then and now Mikes shine!

I've seen the Alarm 4 times in total - 3 times at Newcastle City Hall and once at an all-standing gig at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Th Boro gig was simply magnificent - at 5'4", I ended up two rows from the front being hurled all over by the movement of the crowd as Mike announced the well known fact that the Tory Party had just been bombed in Brighton - they then played 'Where were you hiding...' A real night to remember! At Newcastle, they managed to get the usual tight-arsed management to allow us to abandon our seats and go down the front (which resulted in a few bruises) - but what a gig. The keyboardist that night was from Tyneside. I loved the Alarm and only really saw this website when I discovered my old collection of 12" 45rpm's - I'm definitely going to buy the CD box set - my kids will no doubt be appalled, but who gives a ... Great music, raw emotion, meaningful lyrics, great to be young at that time. Thanks Mike for the Bells of Rhymney - as a Durham miner's son it meant a lot that certain groups put their money where their mouth was.
Best wishes all,

Growing up in Rhyl North Wales and now living in Chicago, I got the honor to see Mike Peters again after 20+ years. It was the Elbo Room Chicago back in April 2001. Mike Peters and the Alarm rocked the house. The music was nothing short of electric and the Man has not changed at all. Still aproachable by all, still kind and truly a King.
The Alarm is about to be re-born and I wish all both original members and the current band the very best.
Mike Peters your the best thing that ever came out of Wales and to the Music Industry.
Thankyou

Great site ecki,
Legendary band and a legendary man. I was fortunate enough to see them in a small smokey club in Belgium with 2 coach loads of Welsh Alarm nuts back in 1987.As a lone Aussie who'd travelled a long way to see them play Mike and the rest of the band signed some stuff for me afterwards and chatted for ages about what I was up to and how I'd come to be there.I think they were a liitle bit blown away they had fans in Australia .They never did take me up on my offer to come and tour Down Under but such is life ? I have my memories of the Alarm / Wire Train double bill that night in Belgium.
Cheers, Paul.

One of my favourite groups. I have seen them 3 times at the royal court in Liverpool one of the times was when Mikes sister was in Walton hospital for brain surgery...the emotion that night was awesome one of the best concerts I have had the privellage of seeing. Spirit of 76 always goes doen well on Merseyside but that night it was electric. Mike Peters is right up there with Stuart Admason for my money two under appreciated gods of music.

I agree that Mike is 'SO Genuine' as you Yanks say. I was at a small gig in England a few years back buying a t-shirt, when this bloke tapped me on the back. When I turned round it was Mike saking my hand and saying 'hello'. He didn't know me from Adam, but had still made the effort (maybe it was because I was chatting up the lovely Jules!). Anyway, I can't speak highly enough about the man.

Re-dicovering The Alarm after the Bands Reunited show on VH1 in the USA. I had forgotten just how awesome and tight they were. Pulled out my LP's and taped them untill I can update them into CD's. Saw them twice here in Baltimore, MD at a club called Hammerjacks. Eye of The Hurricane and Changes tours. Shook Mikes' hand when he climbed about 30 feet on top of the speakers, during Recue Me, to meet and greet the fans on the second story of the club, on the Eye tour.
