The top THEN picture is from a postcard postmarked 1923. The second THEN picture is from a postcard from the 1950's. The post office is in the same place, but the Times Square store is no longer there.
This area was called "Times Square" because so many people came up from the city.
Although the area isn't anywhere near as busy as the famous NYC Times Square, and isn't even as busy as it was in the 1950's, this area is still a popular local gatering place hwith residents stopping to chat while picking up their mail or stopping for something at the Yulan Country Store across the street.
